Blogger’s Block

I have so many unfinished drafts it’s not even funny anymore. I keep starting posts and then either outright ignoring them, or forgetting about them. And then when I rediscover them, I ask myself should I even bother posting this? It’s not even timely anymore.

I keep meaning to fall into a more regular posting schedule. But it’s like I really don’t have anything to say. Well that’s not true, I have things to say, but not enough to actually finish a post and hit publish.

Who am I blogging for? Myself or others? Do I care enough about this blog right now to maintain it? Probably not. But there’s a tiny voice nagging me to keep this space updated, because it’s literally my best foot forward on the internet. There’s a reason why this and my twitter are linked and I put mastery of both wordpress and twitter on my resume. I want to be a professional writer. I really should have a professional looking blog on the internet.  Now that I have a salary, I should look into buying a domain to host this so I can put it on my resume and stuff.

So yeah that’s what has been going through my head the last couple weeks every time I come onto wordpress. It’s mostly a guilty feeling for not having any quality posts lined up.

Maybe I should take a page out of Charlie McDonnell’s book and force myself to post at least once a day for a week and see what happens. Let’s try to resurrect this page.

Four Years

Four Years spent at Hofstra University, diligently working though classes, living out my college experience with friends, clubs/activities and the required horrible food. (okay Lackman wasn’t that bad, but it was pretty expensive) I started my last semester with the intention of making it my best, and getting the most out of the time I had left. I also intended to blog more, and we all know how well that turned out…

But I took 15 credits, including a thesis project for one last honors college requirement, and a journalism class to see how the “other side” wrote. Even though I was the only senior in the class, it was still a rewarding experience. I have a flair for journalism and I kind of regret not taking more classes. My GPA this semester is the highest I’ve ever gotten, with 3 A’s and two A- ‘s.

Outside of the classroom, I strove to live my life to the fullest. I worked part time, assembling a book of world records. I also worked to get a discussion group started for gay and spiritual topics  and restarted the honors college blog (huhc.wordpress.com) I also got closer to friends I had met the semester before, close enough that saying good bye was not fun. I’m glad we can stay in touch thanks to the internet…

It turned out I saved the best for last as this was easily my best semester ever. I’m sad school is over; I really did love it.

Where I’ve been

and where I’m going.

I spent New Years Weekend at Sunday River again. Went skiing with my Aunt, brother, cousin, and a friend of my cousin who lives in Portland. I hadn’t skied in two years, but it was like riding a bike. I had so much fun that I resolve to buy myself the skis and boots as soon as I know where I’m living. If there’s a job for me in Miami, then that might be a problem 🙂

Also was in Chicago for a week visiting maternal grandparents. I don’t see them nearly enough.

I start classes on the 26th. Heading down to Hofstra the 24th. I am excited to have an internship at URDB.org I’m helping put a book together. 🙂

One more semester left. Where HAS the time gone?

Stateside

Back home from Germany since the 28th. Enjoying my Time off.

I am aware that I’ve been seriously neglecting my Blog. Tis Sad.

Will be posting several posts about Germany this weekend and the rest of the month. I’m sure once I get back to school and get into the semester schedule, I’ll be a more regular poster.

PS: Germany was AWESOME.

Absence Note

I’ve been blogging for almost six months now, and have never gone so long with out posting. So sorry for the lack of posts. There were a few days in the past 2 and a half weeks where I just had writer’s block or didn’t feel like blogging, but for the most part I’ve been very busy. I really wish I could have blogged on top of everything else.

BUT, I have two (!) days off tomorrow and Friday and then I’ll be around for the second half of next week. So look for a few posts.  I saw two articles that I’ve been thinking about. One is about plagiarism and the other is about religion classes at Harvard.
